Often when people think about New York they think of New York City, but there’s another New York beyond the “Big Apple” – it’s New York State and it offers an untold number of experiences.
To the East is Long Island with its stunning beaches and the world famous resort playground of “The Hamptons” where the celebrities and rich go to escape. Just to the north, lies the Hudson Valley, the “new place to be” in the North East of the USA, with its river-hugging towns and fabulous antique shops, art and architectural treasures. Other areas such as the Finger Lakes, America’s largest wine producing region outside California and the spectacle of Niagara Falls one of the seven natural wonders of the world all go together to make up an array of travel opportunities that are a perfect complement to a New York City break
Adirondacks
Encompassing about two-thirds of upstate New York, the Adirondacks embraces some 6 million acres of land. There are 42 mountains that exceed 4,000 feet, 2,800 lakes and pond, and 1,200 miles of rivers. The Adirondacks are home to the famous Lake Placid, home of the 1980 winter Olympics.
Capital Saratoga
This area, surrounded by rolling hills and bordered by several mountain chains, is a true wonder to behold. You will find natural mineral springs , world-reknowned thoroughbred horse racing and the capital of New York State, Albany.
Catskills
American Indians called the beautiful region of the Catskills “Onteora” or “land in the sky”. This lush region scattered full of oak, hickory and maple provides a perfect setting for activities such as mountain biking, hiking trails, canoeing, golf or fly fishing.
Central Letherstocking
This region - rich in history and tradition - is the heartland of the state. Museums, performing arts centers, reconstructed villages, farmsteads, folk art treasures and geological wonders are just a few of the highlights.
Chatauqua Allegheny
Chautauqua- Allegheny possesses rustic beauty, elegant architecture and a wealth of culture. Named for a 22-mile lake and a mountain range, this region boasts Allegany State Park, New York's largest four-season park - a popular destination for campers, hikers, cross country skiers and bird-watchers. Nineteenth century architecture is beautifully maintained in area towns. In addition, Native American reservations and museums help preserve the heritage of a proud people.
Finger Lakes
Finger Lakes is comprised of six major and five smaller lakes that reflect the region's scenic beauty. Some of the most spectacular gorges and glens in America are found here among the many wineries, apple orchards and farmland. Two of the state's largest and most interesting cities, Rochester and Syracuse, boast famous museums, cultural and science centres.
Greater Niagara
The Greater Niagara Region is for the adventurous and inquisitive. Niagara Falls draws millions of visitors who stand in awe of its power. Buffalo is the major cultural, educational and sports center, with famous galleries, museums, theaters and restaurants. Letchworth State Park, the "Grand Canyon of the East," offers more than 14,000 acres of magnificent scenery along the Genesee River gorge.
Hudson Valley
The Hudson Valley is a combination of magnificent scenery, historic homes that belonged to the great American families such as the Rockerfeller’s and Vanderbilt’s, quaint villages and rural tranquillity.
Long Island
With everything from beautiful beaches, historical sites and lighthouses, to sophisticated malls, designer outlets and shopping villages, to wineries and farm stands, to family fun parks, aquariums and zoos, there's far more than plenty to do on Long Island!
New York City
Everyone knows New York City , even if they have never been there. But the real thing is ten times more exciting, because whether you are visiting for the first or tenth time, there’s so much to do. The shopping and arts are world-class, the nightlife is hot and there’s a hotel and a restaurant for every budget and every palate.
